Your data, in plain words
What we collect, and why
Your photos (both palms, the side of each hand, one eye and a selfie) are used only to make your book. Birth details are used only to work out your reading. Your name and email are used to address your book and to send you order updates. Payment is handled by Stripe, so card numbers never reach our systems.
Where your photos go
To read your palm lines, the side of your hand and your eye, we send those photos to Claude, an AI service made by Anthropic, which operates in the United States. We only do that if you give the separate yes on the form. If someone else ordered for you, they must confirm you agree. Anthropic processes what we send under its commercial terms, which say it does not train its models on it. We never use your photos to identify you or match them against anything.
To find the coordinates of your birth town, we send the town's name, and nothing else, to OpenStreetMap's place search.
What we never do
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with the providers needed to take your payment, make and deliver your book, and send your order emails. Those are listed in section 6 of the full policy.
Your controls
Email hello@atlasandguide.com and we'll delete your photos: the originals you sent, the edited copies made for your book and the working files used to read them. We keep a short record that it was done (the date and file names, never the photos). Your finished book file contains your photos, so we will delete that too if you ask. You can also ask us to correct a detail or send you a copy of what we hold.
Gifts
When you buy a gift, the recipient's details come to us and are never passed on to the person who bought it.
What our site measurement can and cannot see
The site has its own small measurement script. It records which pages are viewed and which steps of an order are completed, with a random session identifier kept in your browser until the tab closes. Because that identifier links one visit's events together, we don't describe this data as anonymous. It never records your name, email, birth details, photographs or the words of your reading. We use no third-party trackers, no advertising pixels and no analytics cookies. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, the script records nothing. It is not connected to any server, so nothing it records leaves your browser.

1. Who we are
Atlas & Guide ("we", "us", "our") runs the website at atlasandguide.com and makes personal books, prints, candles and gifts. We are responsible for the personal information you give us through the site. You can contact us at hello@atlasandguide.com.
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what choices you have.
2. The information we collect
You give us:
- Contact and account details: your name and email address, and your shipping address for physical orders.
- Birth details: your birth date, and optionally your birth time and birth town, used to work out your reading.
- Photographs: photos of your palms, the side of your hands, one eye, and a selfie, used to make your book. For an Atlas of Us, the same details for the second person.
- Questionnaire answers: the answers you give to shape your reading.
- Order details: what you buy, gift messages, and any messages you send to us.
Payment details are handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We receive confirmation that a payment has gone through.
Usage information: when you visit the site we record which pages are viewed and which steps of an order you complete, as described in section 12.
3. Photographs and sensitive information
3.1 Photographs of palms and eyes can be treated as sensitive information. We treat them with extra care.
3.2 We collect these photographs only with your consent. We use them only to make the product you ordered. We never use them to identify anyone or to match them against any other image.
3.3 We ask for a separate yes before any palm, hand or eye photograph is sent to an AI service (section 5). If you do not give that yes, those photographs are not sent to an AI service.
3.4 We delete photographs when you ask us to, as described in section 10.
4. How we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- create, compose, produce and deliver the book, print, candle or gift you ordered;
- take payment and prevent fraud;
- send you order confirmations and delivery updates;
- respond to your questions and requests;
- keep the records we are required to keep, such as tax records;
- run, secure and improve the site.
We send marketing messages only where you have opted in, and you can opt out of them at any time. Opting out of marketing does not stop order and delivery messages.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Automated processing and AI
5.1 Readings are written with the help of artificial intelligence and our own software. That software interprets the details you give us within reading traditions. It is used to produce the product you asked for. It does not make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5.2 If you give the separate yes described in section 3.3, your palm, hand and eye photographs are sent to Claude, an AI service made by Anthropic, which operates in the United States. Anthropic processes them for us under its commercial terms, which say it does not use what we send to train its models. Those photographs are sent to Anthropic and to nothing else about you.
5.3 Without that yes, your palm, hand and eye photographs are not sent to any AI service, and the book shows you how to read those pages yourself.
5.4 The text of your book is assembled by our own software from the details you gave us.
6. When we share information
We share personal information only when it is needed for the purposes in section 4. We use the following service providers:
- Stripe, to take payment.
- Prodigi, and the shipping carriers it uses, to print and deliver physical items. They receive your name, shipping address and the print file for your order.
- Render, which hosts the system that builds your book from your order.
- Anthropic (Claude), to read your palm, hand and eye photographs, only with your separate yes (section 5.2).
- OpenStreetMap's Nominatim place search, to find the coordinates of your birth town. It receives only the town's name as you typed it.
- Our email provider, currently Resend, to deliver order and service emails to you.
- Our website host, which stores the website files.
We require these providers to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we set out. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to protect people's rights and safety, or in connection with a sale of the business, with your rights preserved.
7. Gifts
When you buy a gift, the recipient's details come to us and are not passed to the person who bought the gift. The gift giver does not see what the recipient has written or uploaded.
8. Children
8.1 The site is for people aged 16 and over.
8.2 We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have information about a child under 16, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Some of our providers, including Anthropic and Render, process information in the United States. Where information moves from the country you live in, we take steps to protect it, including relying on the contractual commitments our providers make to us.
10. How long we keep information, and deletion
10.1 We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in section 4, or as the law requires.
10.2 You can ask us to delete your data at any time. Email hello@atlasandguide.com.
10.3 For photographs, we delete every copy we hold: the originals you sent, the edited copies made for your book, and the working files used to read them. We keep a short record that the deletion happened, showing the date and file names but never the photographs.
10.4 A finished book contains your photographs, so if you ask us to delete your data, we will also delete the finished book file. A book you have already received is still yours.
10.5 We delete or de-identify your other details too, except for limited records we must keep by law, such as order and tax records, and copies that remain briefly in routine backups before they are overwritten.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your information;
- object to or restrict some uses of your information;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example to the AI processing of your photographs;
- receive a copy of your information in a portable form;
- complain to the data protection authority where you live.
To use any of these rights, email hello@atlasandguide.com. We will respond within the time the law requires.
We do not sell personal information, so there is no sale to opt out of.
12. Cookies and measurement
12.1 We do not use cookies for analytics, and we do not use third-party trackers, advertising pixels, or any analytics provider.
12.2 Our site has its own small measurement script. Because that identifier links one visit's events together, we do not describe this data as anonymous.
12.3 The script never records your name, email address, birth details, photographs or the words of your reading.

12.5 At present the script is not connected to any server, so nothing it records leaves your browser.
12.6 You can clear your browser's storage at any time through your browser settings.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, limited staff access, and providers we have checked. No online system is completely secure. If a breach is likely to cause someone serious harm, we will tell the people affected and the relevant authority, as the law requires.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or with a notice on the site before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the current version.
